God’s armour – Day 21 – Drawing Closer to God

Easter Sunday 2020 – God demonstrated His power and love simultaneously with the resurrection of His Son Jesus. He has weapons that we now have access to. Do you remember that fabulous scene in the movie War Room when the wife works through her home, declaring her authority in Jesus Name? Now is the time for us to use God’s weapons. Let’s put on God’s armour today. (Day 21 – YouTube)

Day 21 – God’s Armour

We need to be using God’s weapons, not our own.

Scriptures

And be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude]. Ephesians 4:23 AMP

Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out. Ephesians 6:13-18 The Message

By my God I can – Day 20 – Drawing Closer to God

Thank you Jesus for this day and that we know what happened three days after your death. Thank you that because of You we can have that same assurance about our eternal future. Thank you that because of Your victory, we can live victoriously every day, in your Name Jesus. We can say, ‘By my God I can …’ Thank you Jesus for interceding for us today. (Day 20 – YouTube)

Remember to have your pen and paper ready to write down what God says to you today.

Day 20 – By my God I can

There is One in heaven who is interceding for you and your family now.

For by You I can crush a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. As for God, His way is blameless. The word of the LORD is tested [it is perfect, it is faultless]; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. For who is God, but the LORD? Or who is a rock, except our God, the God who encircles me with strength and makes my way blameless? He makes my feet like hinds’ feet [able to stand firmly and tread safely on paths of testing and trouble]; He sets me [securely] upon my high places. He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. Psalm 18:29-34 AMP

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 NKJV

Day 19 – Stand firm

God is always encouraging us to stand firm in Him.

Scriptures

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved. Philippians 3:20-4:1 NKJV

My dear, dear friends! I love you so much. I do want the very best for you. You make me feel such joy, fill me with such pride. Don’t waver. Stay on track, steady in God. Philippians 4:1 The Message

God is our source – Day 18 – Drawing Closer to God

So many times I have found myself saying to God, “You are going to have to sort this out – I’ve got nothing.” I’ve said this prayer often in relation to lots of different things – marriage, parenting, finances, time, creativity, and the list goes on! God has always provided. God is our source. His love covers all we need. (Day 18 – YouTube)

Remember to have your pen and paper ready to record what He says to you during this quiet time with Him.

Day 18 – God is our source

God is our source – in all seasons of life.

He has brought me to his banqueting place, and his banner over me is love [waving overhead to protect and comfort me].
Song of Songs 2:4 AMP

Look at all the birds – do you think they worry about their existence? They don’t plant or reap or store up food, yet your heavenly Father provides them each with food. Aren’t you much more valuable to your Father than they? Matthew 6:26 TPT

Life to the full – Day 17 – Drawing Closer to God

Today we have the choice to look to Jesus and what He did for us – gave His life so we could have life and have life to the full. We can choose to fully embrace that act of love. I remember when were were about four years into our journey with Victoria I had to make that choice – would I continue to live in fear that the tumour in her brain would grow for the fourth time, or would I choose to believe that Jesus had come so that she, and our whole family would have life to the full. Seems like an easy choice to make doesn’t it – but the mind is powerful and fear comes – Only spending time in God’s word, in worship and prayer enabled me to come to that place where I could make this choice.

If you are struggling to make that choice, my prayer is that these devotions will help you draw closer to God today and get to that place where you can live life to the full in Jesus Name. (Day 17 – YouTube)

Day 17 – Life to the full

Hang on to God’s peace and don’t let go.

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His [own] life for the sheep. John 10:10-11 AMP

Over the years in situations when breakthrough seemed impossible, I have seen God make a way, time and time again. I’m sure you have witnessed that too in your life and in the lives of people around you. Today is no different. Our God is the God of the impossible. He is able. (Day 16 – YouTube)

Day 16 – He is able

A new day is dawning. His mercies are new every day.

Scripture

Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Put your confidence in God – Day 15 – Drawing Closer to God

Now is the time to take a few moments to assess how confident we are in God, and whether we really believe He will bring us through this very challenging time. Day 15 – Put your confidence in God

Choose to have confidence that our God is able to meet all your needs.

Scripture

So God has given us both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain to God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:18-20 NLT

Who is God? He is the creator of the Heavens and the earth. He is the only living God. God makes a way when there seems like there is no way. We need to remind ourselves of these truths today. DAY 14 – God is bigger

God is BIGGER than this situation

Scriptures

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your understanding. Proverbs 3:5 NIV

You’re as real to me as bedrock beneath my feet, like a castle on a cliff, my forever firm fortress, my mountain of hiding, my pathway of escape, my tower of rescue where none can reach me. My secret strength and shield around me, you are salvation’s ray of brightness shining on the hillside, always the champion of my cause.
